Job summary

Beacon Health System seeks a Hospital Guest Transport role to direct patients and visitors, provide mobility assistance, and support safety protocols at the main entrance. You will coordinate with Security and House Supervisors to ensure smooth flow and transitions throughout the facility.

The role requires strong communication, reliable teamwork, and the ability to operate transport devices while maintaining infection control and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; minimum age 17.
• Ability to read, legibly print or write, and follow instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of principles for providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and be self-motivated.
• Ability to operate portable telephones and other electronic devices for transport.
• Ability to follow Back Safety and Infection Control Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge each patient/visitor in a friendly, professional manner upon entrance to the hospital.
• Assist with mobility by coordinating wheelchairs and People-Mover as needed.
• Provide directions and answer inquiries; anticipate needs or problems and address them.
• Record and maintain transport transaction records.
• Educate patients/visitors on visitation guidelines during restrictions.
• Notify House Supervisor or department Charge RN with concerns.
• Maintain constant contact with calls and report delays for requested jobs.
• Communicate with other Guest Transporters to support hospital needs.
• Adhere to infection control, confidentiality and universal precautions.
• Deliver flowers, mail, packages to patients/staff as appropriate.
• Perform maintenance on garage equipment and payment kiosks.
• Coordinate with Switchboard, Engineering and Security to keep equipment operational.
• Maintain supplies and cleanliness; complete other related duties as assigned.
