Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Food Service Shift Lead to coordinate daily operations in University Hospital's Food Service Administration. You will supervise nutrition aides, sales assistants, and kitchen personnel, ensuring timely service and high quality standards across patient care and retail cafes.

Under supervision, you will lead staff training, manage sanitation plans, and collaborate with other departments to optimize labor efficiency and food safety.

Qualifications

• 600 hours of training in the operation of kitchen equipment
• 600 hours of training in food preparation
• 6 courses in supervision (or 6 months of experience)
• 1 course in budgeting
• 1 course in bookkeeping

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct daily operations in assigned areas.
• Under supervision of the Nutrition Services Assistant/Associate Director, ensure timely service that meets standards.
• Supervise, coordinate, and participate in activities of nutrition aides, sales assistants, and kitchen personnel.
• Build partnerships with other departments.
• Lead and train service staff in patient care and retail cafes.
• Enforce quality standards.
• Requisition food and food-related products.
• Manage sanitation plan where applicable and assist with policy/procedure development.
• Act as a frontline supervisor, supporting operations and optimizing labor efficiency.
• Integrate functions within areas and across the department.
