Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic for the Electric Shop. You will perform maintenance on building systems including HVAC, lighting, electrical, plumbing and structural elements, and support other facility shops as needed.

This is a mission essential role requiring rotating shifts and on-call coverage. Candidates should have a high school diploma (trade school preferred) and a VA or NC driver’s license; 2–3 years of maintenance experience is

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Trade School training preferred.
• Valid VA or NC driver’s license required.
• 2–3 years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to assist with HVAC, Plumbing, and other facility shops.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on building structures and systems: floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, electrical, plumbing.
• Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems as directed by the Electric Shop.
• Support other Facility Shops as needed and ensure safety and compliance.
• Live within 30 minutes of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital campus.
• Be able to work rotating shifts and on-call as required.
