Job summary

Norfolk General Hospital seeks a General Maintenance Mechanic to perform broad building maintenance across multiple systems. The role involves working in the Electric Shop and supporting other facility shops as required, with rotating shifts and on-call duties.

Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and a trade school background, plus 2-3 years of maintenance experience and a VA/NC driver's license. Commercial experience preferred.

General Maintenance Mechanic

Electric Shop

Performs general maintenance as directed and as necessary on all aspects of building structure and systems to include floors, walls, ceilings, lighting HVAC, transportation systems, mechanical electrical, plumbing and other items.

This position is Mission Essential personnel at SNGH. Must live within 30 minutes of SNGH campus. Must be able to work rotating shift, rotating weekends and be on-call as required.

This position is assigned to the Electric Shop

Support other Facility Shops as required

Must have a VA or NC Drivers Licence

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Trade School

Certification/Licensure

• Valid VA or NC Drivers Licence (In good standing)

Experience

• 2-3 years of Maintenance experience
• Commercial preferred
• Ability to assist with other Facility Shops (HVAC, Plumbing, etc)
• Mission Essential Personnel
