Job summary

Western Missouri Medical Center seeks a Maintenance Engineer to oversee the operation of building mechanical and utility systems. You will perform preventative maintenance, inspect facilities for safety, and coordinate repairs as needed to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

The role requires experience with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, plus painting and finishing skills. Strong adherence to safety procedures and the ability to read blueprints are essential for success

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 5 years’ experience in the maintenance field preferred.
• Experience as a professional painter preferred.
• Must pass a background check including MV records.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating and AC systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematic diagrams, interpret instructions, and prepare simple specs.
• Demonstrated skills with motors, drives and mechanical equipment in hospital settings.
• General maintenance abilities required.
• Follow safety procedures for equipment operation and repair.
• Self-motivated and able to work within hospital policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in major and minor utility shut downs as requested by departments or contractors.
• Install new or replacement machinery and fixtures per building codes.
• Maintain and repair hospital equipment including kitchen and patient-related devices.
• Operate various machine tools as needed.
• Perform equipment preventative maintenance.
• Inspect building machines and initiate repairs as needed.
• Maintain HVAC controls and electrical systems to maximize efficiency.
• Repair electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as required.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all hospital structures.
• Paint and finish surfaces; patch plaster as needed.
• Mix paints to match colors as required.
• Complete assignments within time while considering patient needs.
• Maintain routine records of inspections and repairs.
• Read blueprints and prepare specifications.
