Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring an environmental services worker to clean and maintain hospital areas. The role involves moving equipment, cleaning patient rooms, and ensuring a safe, sanitary environment in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities include operating cleaning equipment, handling linen, and following infection control policies. This is a full-time, on-site position with a focus on safe, thorough cleaning and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED preferred.
• Previous cleaning experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Education/experience may substitute for licensure or certification where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Clean and service building areas as per procedure.
• Operate and clean cleaning equipment (mechanical/electrical).
• Clean operating suites with germicidal solutions and arrange furniture.
• Clean patient rooms following isolation protocols.
• Maintain walls, doors, ceilings, fixtures, and windows.
• Climb ladders to access high areas with safety precautions.
• Distribute or collect linen; keep linen closet clean.
• Dust mops, wet mops, and vacuum carpets.
• Maintain floors and baseboards with proper methods.
• Vacuum carpets and manage waste as required.
• Perform duties assigned by supervisor to ensure a safe environment.
