Job summary

Jackson County Memorial Hospital Authority is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain cleanliness across patient care areas. Daily duties include cleaning occupied rooms, dismissals and transfers, staff offices, and public areas in line with infection prevention policies.

The role requires loading supplies, preparing cleaners, and transporting materials, while upholding safety, timeliness, and professional conduct in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Some related experience in health care setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of proper housekeeping technique and procedures preferred.
• Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is essential.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned patient rooms with hospital approved germicidal detergents and other cleaners according to department procedures.
• Cleans the following patient room items: furniture, floors, ceilings/vents, televisions, telephones, shelves, desks, fixtures, plumbing, restroom, overbed table, overbed lights and all other areas of a patient room.
• Displays the ability to complete an average dismissal or transfer room within 30 minutes; terminal isolation rooms within 45 minutes.
• Dusts and mops patient room floors; reports project needs such as refinishing to shift supervisor.
• Handles, transports, and stores all types of waste to include general, bio, and chemo in accordance with regulations.
• Maintains EVS room and general work area in a neat and orderly manner.
• Maintains knowledge of chemicals and supplies used to carry out duties of the position.
• Other duties as assigned.
