Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a full-time cleaning associate to maintain patient care areas, restrooms, conference rooms, lobbies, elevators and stairwells. You will operate power cleaning equipment, manage floors and surfaces, and assist in preparing rooms for meetings and events.

No formal education or prior experience is required; training provided. The position offers a 40-hour work week, schedules Mon-Fri with potential shift variations, and a pay range of $19.80 to $29.70 per hour.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate various types of cleaning equipment, including machine scrubbers, carpet cleaners, waste compactors, balers, etc.
• Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions and communicate with others.
• Ability to work alone and to understand the physical arrangements of the facilities.
• Performs tasks without disrupting operations of the doctors, nurses, patients, public, and other staff.
• Ability to set priorities, be aware of and follow department policies and procedures in all situations.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean furniture and carpets in rooms, hallways, stairs, and offices using power equipment.
• Refinish floors with machine scrubbing and/or stripping and apply floor finish.
• Operate cleaning machinery and report safety hazards or needed repairs.
• Set up rooms for meetings and deliver audio visual equipment as needed.
• Prepare patient care and public areas, restrooms, and offices for daily operations.
• Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and medical waste following infection control guidelines.
• Stock supplies and ensure labeled chemicals and MSDS references are followed.
