Job summary

UPMC Mercy seeks full-time Environmental Services Associates to clean patient rooms, public areas, offices and equipment in a team environment. The role requires working rotating weekends and holidays, following established procedures and safety regulations to sustain hospital cleanliness and patient comfort.

HS Diploma/GED or equivalent experience is required, and staff may be in rooms with stored medications but no contact with medications is allowed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED or one year of prior job experience is required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to complete duties.
• Ability to use housekeeping equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean all assigned areas including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment following procedures.
• Follow safety and sanitation regulations.
• Inspect and ensure areas are clean and in good repair, report problems to supervisor.
• Maintain equipment in clean, working condition and report issues.
• Make beds in discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Move equipment and furnishings and spot-clean walls and carpets as needed.
• Remove trash from all areas and replenish towels, toilet paper, and soap.
