Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, VA is hiring Environmental Services staff to perform daily and periodic cleaning in assigned areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

The role emphasizes infection control, proper cleaning techniques, teamwork, and flexibility to meet hospital needs. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with at least one year of Environmental Services or housekeeping experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
• At least 1 year Environmental Services or Housekeeping experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Sanitize floors, walls, windows, doors, fixtures, furnishings, stairways, elevators, entrances/exits, horizontal surfaces, bathrooms, unit common areas, utility rooms, and patient’s rooms.
• Cleaning tasks are of both a maintenance and restorative nature, depending on needs.
• Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with Infection Control policies using proper tools, body mechanics, and lifting techniques.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability; areas may change based on hospital needs as determined by Environmental Services Leadership.
