Job summary

Qualifications

• Excellent telephone skills and interpersonal communication skills.
• Preferred training as a Telephone Operator, Receptionist, or Dispatcher.

Responsibilities

• Answers and directs all telephone calls and overhead paging inquiries for hospital communications.
• Triages and prioritizes calls by urgency and routes accordingly.
• Responds to alarms, security calls, and medical emergencies immediately.
• Pages designated personnel to respond to emergencies.
• Reports problems with the alarm system to the supervisor.
• Logs emergency response information as appropriate.
• Maintains and cleans switchboard equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
