Job summary

Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI, is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to lead the hospital's preparedness program, coordinate education and drills, and ensure regulatory alignment. The coordinator will chair the Emergency Preparedness Committee, develop training plans, and collaborate with internal teams and community partners to maintain readiness for disasters

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• Current RN license and/or 3–5 years of relevant clinical experience preferred.
• Emergency management experience and professional emergency manager designation preferred.
• Training in hazmat awareness, decontamination operations and incident command is required. Instructor certifications preferred but not required.
• FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 and 800 required prior to hire
• FEMA ICS 300 and 400 preferred or must obtained within 12 months of hire
• FEMA Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification preferred or must obtained within 12 months of hire
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office), email, internet use for research, ability to effectively run meetings.
• Must be able to work and collaborate with internal and external customers.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and through writing with all members of the healthcare team and community partners.
• Must be able to comfortably accept delegation and negotiate task priorities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement emergency preparedness standards for a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Coordinate education and exercises to ensure a coordinated response during disasters.
• Integrate safety, regulations, and oversight of incident and event response.
• Chairs the Bronson Emergency Preparedness Committee and provides project management support.
• Develop, implement, and review safety and regulatory education and training requirements.
• Plan disaster exercises and education schedule annually and maintain related documentation.
• Oversee inventory, testing, and use of disaster-related equipment.
• Collaborate with management, community partners, and external agencies on preparedness efforts.
