Job summary

Cooper Green Mercy Health Services Authority in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of emergency plans, drills, and responses across the organization.

You will coordinate with CMS, Joint Commission, FEMA, OSHA, and other agencies, oversee ICS/EC operations, and partner with facilities, leadership, and external entities to strengthen readiness and resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Occupational Safety, Public Administration, Environmental Health, Business, or related field.
• Four (4) years of experience in emergency management, healthcare regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, safety, or related field.
• Experience developing emergency operations plans, conducting drills/exercises, and supporting regulatory compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates emergency plans, education, drills, and responses.
• Coordinates with CMS, Joint Commission, FEMA, OSHA, and state/federal requirements.
• Leads ICS/Emergency Operations Center for exercises and actual events.
• Collaborates with facilities, leadership, tenants, and external partners on preparedness.
• Monitors regulatory requirements and maintains readiness documentation.
