The Hospital Development Program Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing customized organ and tissue donation programs at assigned hospitals. This role provides support to ensure hospital and donor family experiences are consistent and the highest level of quality service and outcome is achieved. The ultimate accountability is to achieve and maintain high donation rates, implement identified key donation initiatives, support active case activity, build, and maintain key relationships and lead focused process improvement in all assigned hospitals.

Hospital Partner Responsibilities

  • Establishes a strong working relationship with, and serves as a knowledgeable resource for hospital administrators, physicians, nurses, and other associated health care professionals.
  • Collaborates with hospital partners to develop and maintain organ and tissue donation policies at assigned hospital accounts.
  • Analyzes hospital accounts utilizing death record reviews, referral data, and potential donor statistics. From this analysis, develops customized plans for assigned hospitals including short- and long-term objectives and action plans.
  • Identifies need for proactive or reactive process improvement to reduce or eliminate process based missed donation opportunities
  • Presents data to administrative-level contacts and assures that best practices for donation process are followed.
  • Provides direct support to hospitals and clinical staff during referrals and cases.
  • Maintains and assists in establishing contractual relationships with assigned hospitals for tissue recovery services.
  • Assesses relationship status with key hospital staff and professional partners and recommends strategies for growth in order to continuously grow donation culture and strengthen LCNW’s relationship within each hospital account.
  • Assists all hospital accounts with Joint Commission, CMS, FDA, DNV, state and federal laws and UNOS requirements related to organ and tissue donation. This includes providing direct support to assigned hospitals specific to need (including educational programs, nursing staff and physician training) and establishing and updating donation policies and procedures.
  • Provides standard hospital development account management to specific unassigned hospitals to assist with leaves and vacancies.
  • Maintains a regular presence at assigned hospital accounts to establish and enhance LCNW partnership with key units and contacts within the hospital.
  • Implements strategies outlined in retention and acquisition strategy for all current and prospective hospital partners with LCNW tissue recovery agreements.
  • Utilizes marketing/communications strategy and related tools, aimed at gaining additional market-segment share.
  • Collaborates on the RFP process including drafting, editing, and finalizing partner proposals.
  • Develops targeted training programs for hospital staff on the donation process driven by data analysis and process improvement needs.

Professional Partner Responsibilities

  • Partners with Community Partner Program Manager to establish a strong working relationship with medical examiners, coroners, funeral homes, and other professional partners.
  • Participates in professional and community trade events, by exhibiting or speaking.
  • Collaborates with partner donation agencies in shared hospital accounts.
  • Supports and facilitates training with healthcare partners in the community, including but not limited to professional associations, colleges and universities, and EMS/Law Enforcement.

Internal Partner Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with internal departments to review process challenges at assigned hospital accounts, and work to implement process improvement efforts.
  • Serves as a resource to internal partners regarding hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provides on-site case support for referral and donor activity on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with Communications Department to create and update professional educational materials.
  • Participates in organizational work groups and projects as requested
  • Supports and assists internal multi-disciplinary projects or initiatives to improve donation process or outcomes.
  • Mentors new and existing Hospital Development staff, as requested.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences. Good presentation skills are necessary.
  • Highly organized and analytical and is able to present information to others in a clear and concise format.
  • Ability to work autonomously and be self-driven to own and improve outcomes and overall performance of assigned hospital donation programs.
  • Outstanding ability to analyze and assess situations, create solutions to problems and motivate others.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented team player.
  • This individual must demonstrate operating knowledge of computers with a demonstrable, intermediate level skill (at a minimum) with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other comparable software programs.
  • This position may require the ability to operate specialized equipment, such as audio-visual equipment.

Education, Experience & Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • Master's degree preferred but not required
  • Relevant work experience can be considered as a substitution for academic requirements.
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in a health care environment or related field is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of demonstrated success in sales and marketing, customer service, and public speaking is strongly preferred.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile or the ability to arrive and depart from work and work-related functions at expected times.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer.

Employees have the option of enrolling in the following supplemental or voluntary plans: life insurance, short-term disability, accident insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness coverage and pet insurance. Employees enrolled in our 403(b) program will receive an employer match of up to 7% after one year, employees are auto enrolled at 3% and may change their enrollment at any time. LifeCenter encourages all employees to find balance and well-being and provides all employees access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and provides a quarterly Wellness Reimbursement. Employees enjoy paid holidays throughout the calendar year and earn 119 hours of PTO annually (to start) as well as Health Time Off hours that is earned 1 hour per 30 worked, paid living donor leave, two weeks paid jury duty leave after 6 months of service, and three weeks of paid parental leave after one year of service is complete.
