Job summary

The University of Washington is seeking Weekend Day Hospital Custodians for UW Medical Center-Montlake Environmental Services. These are temporary positions supporting inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices.

Work schedule: Temporary Weekend Day Shift Positions: 7:30am - 4:00pm. Benefits-eligible and anticipated duration up to 6-12 months.

Responsibilities include cleaning, disinfecting furniture, rooms, floors, and related tasks to maintain a safe hospital environment.

• Removes soiled linen and disinfects beds in patient rooms; cleans floors.
• Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill cleanup per procedure.
• Strips, cleans, buffs, and finishes floors using buffers and scrubbers.
• Performs in-between and terminal cleaning of surgical and other rooms per procedure.
• Vacuums carpets and operates carpet cleaners; cleans areas outside facility.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Maintaining cleanliness and care of facilities in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices as assigned.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure
• Removes and properly handles soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms; dust and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant
• Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure
• Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors. Uses high speed floor buffers, polishers, and automated floors scrubbers
• Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure
• Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors
• Performs cleaning and related activities in areas within a reasonable distance outside of the facility using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, and sweep sidewalks or stairs
