Job summary

UW Medical Center-Montlake Environmental Services in Seattle is seeking Day Hospital Custodians for 100% FTE, day shift, 7:00am-3:00pm with rotating weekends. You will maintain cleanliness in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices.

Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting furniture and equipment, handling soiled linen, floor care with buffers and scrubbers, cleaning patient rooms, and following safety procedures and disaster plans.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to perform custodial tasks.
• Healthcare or hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and infection control.
• Equivalent education or experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Handle soiled linen and disinfect/remake beds in patient areas.
• Contain spills and perform bloodborne pathogen cleanup as required.
• Strip, clean, buff, and finish floors with appropriate machines.
• Clean surgical and other rooms; flood mop and disinfect per procedure.
• Vacuum carpets and operate carpet cleaners and extractors.
• Perform general cleaning around facility and follow safety policies.

## Hospital CustodianApply: Seattle, WA: Full time: Posted Today: REQ-0000136040**Job Description****UW Medical Center-Montlake Environmental Services** has employment opportunities for **Day Hospital Custodians.** **WORK SCHEDULE** * 100% FTE (40 hours per week), Day shift, 7:00am-3:00pm (7:30am-4:00pm) - Rotating every other weekend. **POSITION HIGHTLIGHTS** Maintaining cleanliness and care of facilities in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices as assigned **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** * Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure* Removes and properly handles soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms; dust and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant* Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure* Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors. Uses high speed floor buffers, polishers, and automated floors scrubbers* Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure* Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors* Performs cleaning and related activities in areas within a reasonable distance outside of the facility using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, and sweep sidewalks or stairs* Complies with safety policies and procedures and medical center emergency and disaster procedures **REQUIREMENTS** * Physical ability to do required work.* Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. **ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE** UW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
