Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Cook I at UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS ELYRIA MEDICAL CENTER to prepare, portion, cook, and present hot and cold items across meals and events. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, upholding food safety and Sodexo standards, while maintaining an organized workstation.

Responsibilities include following recipes, ensuring quality, coordinating with team, and supporting a superior dining experience for clients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current standards to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving items.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and maintain records to plan production.
• Significant walking or other mobility.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds (50 pounds occasionally).
• Attend shifts on time and perform other duties as needed.
