Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, seeks a Chaplain to provide spiritual care to patients, families and staff, respecting diverse faith traditions. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and document in the electronic health record and PCARS daily.

The role requires a Master’s in Theology, CPE units, ordination or endorsement, and board-certified chaplain status within 3 years. Experience in hospital or related settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Theology (Divinity) required.
• Minimum four (4) units of CPE.
• Current/active ordination, endorsement, or validation for ministry from a faith group.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in hospital, hospice, long-term care facility; or religious institution.
• Must complete Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC) within 3 years of hire or transfer to FT/PT status.
• Evidence of understanding of diverse populations.

Responsabilités

• Provide Spiritual Assessment and counseling to patients, families and staff.
• Support patients’ rights by considering psychosocial, spiritual and cultural variables influencing perceptions of illness.
• Triage requests for the priest and contact the priest in emergency situations; make referrals to the priest for non-emergencies.
• Provide grief de-briefing and similar de-briefing for individuals and/or groups as appropriate; collaborate with Human Resources to provide support for staff in tragic situations.
• Enter daily statistics into Pastoral Care Activity Accounting System (PCARS) and participate in Quality Improvement activities in the Department of Chaplaincy Care.
• Assist patients, family members and staff with Advance Care Planning and communicate patients' wishes to the interdisciplinary team.

Formation

Master’s Degree in Theology

4 units of CPE

Active ordination or endorsement from a faith group

Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC) within 3 years of hire

2+ years’ hospital/hospice/long-term care or similar setting

Understanding of diverse populations
