Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a Chaplain to provide pastoral and spiritual care for patients, families, and staff across campuses. Position supports multi-faith needs and 24/7 coverage, including end-of-life and bereavement support, with collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.

The role requires ordination, CHEA-accredited education, and professional chaplain certification, with potential for growth and continuing education within a leading Central Massachusetts health system.

Qualifications

• Masters’ degree of Divinity or related degree from CHEA-accredited school.
• Current ordination or commission to function in ministry of pastoral care, and endorsement by a recognized faith group.
• Certification by AP Chaplains, NAC Chaplains, Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains, CAPP&E, or eligibility for certification within three years.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family spiritual needs and develops pastoral care plan.
• Respond to pastoral care emergencies and provide 24‑hour coverage.
• Document pastoral care assessments, visits and interventions in the patient’s record.
• Collaborate with interpreter services to provide culturally competent care.
• Provide spiritual care to patients and staff including sacraments, rituals and end of life care.
