Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Chaplain to provide comprehensive pastoral care within our hospital setting. The role includes spiritual support for patients, families, and staff, with duties spanning crisis intervention, sacraments, and end-of-life care.

The position requires a Master’s in Divinity, ordination, and certification eligibility. A valid driver’s license and strong communication skills are essential. Per diem/additional duties may apply within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Divinity or related field from CHEA-accredited school.
• Current ordination or commission to function in a ministry of pastoral care.
• Certification by a professional chaplain association or eligibility within three years.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ spiritual needs and develop pastoral care plans.
• Respond to pastoral care emergencies and provide 24-hour coverage.
• Document assessments, visits, and interventions in the patient record.
• Collaborate with interpreter services for culturally competent care.
• Provide spiritual care including sacraments, rituals, and end-of-life support.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and hospital committees.
