Job summary

Children’s National Rehabilitation and Specialized Care Center (RSC) seeks a Building Engineer to maintain a safe and reliable hospital environment. You will perform preventive maintenance on critical equipment and utility systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and patient-family safety.

You will conduct rounds, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with the engineering team to minimize downtime while adhering to Joint Commission standards and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 10 years of hospital/building maintenance experience required.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and operation manuals.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission/DOH/OSHA/EPA standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on hospital equipment and building systems.
• Conduct daily rounds, document readings, and report issues to the Director of Engineering.
• Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and utility systems.
• Ensure safety policies, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and regulatory requirements are followed.
