Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Boiler Operation School preferred.
• HVAC training preferred.
• Three months of hospital plant systems on-the-job training required.
• Experience with high-pressure boilers and related equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate generation of steam to provide heat and to operate hospital equipment.
• Maintain high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment such as air conditioners, compressors, and generators.
• Perform routine HVAC maintenance including air filter changes, greasing bearings, and cleaning mechanical rooms.
• Record hours of boiler operation, pressure, and temperature.
• Keep records of fuel consumption.
• Observe functioning of steam, vacuum, water and other systems and adjust as needed.
• Respond to emergencies with sound judgment.
• Oversee operation of three centrifugal air-conditioning units for cooling as needed.
• Respond to trouble calls and take readings of air-handling equipment.
• Assume full responsibility for plant operations during shift.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety regulations.
• Operate a computerized energy management system.
