Qualifications

• High School diploma and one year boiler/HVAC schooling.
• Second class engineer’s license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety.
• Knowledge of boiler operation and safety procedures typically gained in five years of experience including supervisory duties.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal supervisory and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation of boilers and auxiliary equipment to produce steam in compliance with MA law.
• Inspect boiler plant at regular intervals (every 5–7 days).
• Maintain inspections log with time, date, status, and maintenance performed.
• Be onsite within 1 hour of serious issues unless notified otherwise.
• Report to Manager on unusual situations or emergencies.
• Respond to trouble calls hospital-wide (e.g., lights, plumbing, heat, readings).
• Observe safety rules and regulations.
• Operate computerized energy management system.
• Perform all other assigned duties.
