Job summary

County of Santa Clara is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to operate, repair, and maintain building systems, with a focus on boilers, HVAC, plumbing, and related equipment in municipal facilities.

Under supervision, you will read blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, monitor water treatment, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance, including generator operation during power outages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade training preferred.
• Four+ years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, service and repair of boilers and related equipment.
• Knowledge of safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance applicable to hospital/municipal facilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, and maintain building systems including boilers, HVAC, plumbing, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs; read blueprints and manuals to locate problems.
• Monitor water treatment, generators, and emergency power systems; respond to outages.
• Maintain accurate records and reports; assist in training less experienced workers.
