Job summary

The County of Santa Clara is seeking a skilled building systems maintenance technician to operate, repair, and maintain boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and related equipment in county facilities.

Under supervision, you will read blueprints, perform preventative maintenance, monitor generators, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and four years of experience; a Universal CFC certificate within six months; and willingness to work irregular hours.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • EPA Universal CFC certificate must be obtained within six months.
  • Four years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of boilers and related equipment.
  • Ability to travel to alternate locations; valid CA driver's license preferred.
  • DSW designation required by county policy.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair high and low pressure steam boilers, HVAC systems, water treatment equipment, plumbing fixtures, electrical motors, and other ancillary equipment.
  • Learn and recall requirements of regulations affecting activities, procedures, and policies.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematic drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Maintain accurate records and make simple reports.
