Job summary

Vitalant in Lafayette, LA is seeking a Hospital Distribution Technician to process hospital blood orders and prepare blood products for procedures and urgent needs in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment.

You will receive orders, manage inventory, document transactions, and collaborate with drivers and hospital staff to ensure timely, safe deliveries and compliance. The role requires strong attention to detail and good customer service, including lifting up to 40–50 lb.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Driver's license with good driving record in most locations (PA exception).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately enter, review and maintain information using computer systems.
• Ability to work the schedule, including weekends/holidays/evenings/on-call as needed.
• Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting 40–50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process and confirm routine and urgent blood product orders from hospitals and healthcare facilities.
• Select, verify, prepare, package and distribute blood products with high accuracy.
• Monitor, store, rotate and track blood product inventory and supplies; maintain records.
• Use computer systems to process orders, document transactions and manage inventory.
• Follow SOPs, safety guidelines and temperature-control requirements in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Collaborate with drivers, couriers and hospital staff to manage changing priorities and deliver products as needed.
