Job summary

Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics is seeking a Business Office Manager to lead daily revenue cycle operations, supervise the Business Office staff, and drive accurate billing, timely collections, and a positive patient financial experience.

Reporting to the Revenue Cycle Director, you will partner with departments across the organization to improve information flow, monitor AR performance and payer denials, and ensure compliant practices while supporting month-end close.

Qualifications

• An associate degree is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or five years of hospital billing and collections experience, is preferred.
• Previous management experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills.
• Clear communication, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to guide a team through day-to-day challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Business Office staff, setting clear expectations and encouraging continuous improvement.
• Oversee accounts receivable, patient billing, cash collections, and related processes.
• Partner with departments across the organization to improve information flow and support timely, accurate claims.
• Monitor accounts receivable performance, unbilled claims, clean claim rates, and payer denials to identify opportunities and drive improvements.
• Help ensure billing, collections, financial assistance, and refund practices are accurate, consistent, and compliant.
• Maintain relationships with payers and vendors and support month-end close activities.
