Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a nursing leader to oversee bed coordination and 24/7 patient flow, ensuring efficient operations across units. This role requires a Registered Nurse license (WV) and strong staff management, with focus on patient care, safety and collaboration with the House Supervisor.

You will monitor bed status, coordinate transfers, and guide staff through complex situations, including emergencies, to maintain high-quality, timely patient care provider standards.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Experience in hospital administration or bed management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make administrative decisions regarding bed coordination and patient care.
• Initiate actions in emergencies and keep House Supervisor informed.
• Manage public relations matters regarding media inquiries.
• Assist staff to resolve problems impacting patient care; collaborate with director.
• Provide current bed status to ED physician, Med-Com and MARS for transfers.
• Coordinate transfers from outside facilities and ED using clinical expertise.
• Assign Resource Pool and Per Diem staff to meet staffing needs.
• Collaborate with housekeeping, transport to maximize patient throughput.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities.
