Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Deaf Education is required.
• National Certification for Deaf Interpreters is required/preferred.
• Health Care Interpreter Training Certificate is required.
• Experience in healthcare interpretation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for deaf and hard of hearing patients and families in interactions with care providers.
• Assist patients in scheduling appointments and resolving billing problems.
• Schedule appointments considering interpreter availability to cover all patient needs.
• Prepare and maintain documentation and reports related to interpreter services.
• Provide education and training to hospital staff on working with interpreters and cultural communication.
