Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital seeks an interpreter to provide oral and signed interpretation and translation services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients, families, and providers across the hospital.

The role includes training hospital staff on cross-cultural communication, scheduling appointments, arranging freelance services, and maintaining records. A Bachelor's degree and CI/CT certifications are required, with a minimum of two years of medical interpreting experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required
• Minimum of two years of interpreting experience, medical setting preferred
• Fluency in English and Sign Language
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients, families, and providers
• Interpret for patients with limited spoken language proficiency
• Schedule interpreter services and coordinate with staff
• Provide staff training on cross-cultural communication and use of interpreters
• Maintain records of daily activities and interpreter requests
• Work with volunteer interpreters and interns as needed
• Assist in creating training materials
