Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital seeks an interpreter to provide oral, sign, and written translation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients, families, and staff. The role includes scheduling coordination, staff training on cross-cultural communication, and arranging freelance coverage as needed.

The ideal candidate has aBachelor’s degree and at least two years of medical interpretation experience, with fluent English and ASL, and current CI and CT certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Minimum of two years interpreting experience, including medical settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Sign Language.
• Written and verbal fluency in English and the Sign Language of the target population.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients, families, and providers.
• Coordinate scheduling and intake for interpreter services.
• Train hospital staff on cross-cultural communication and interpreter use.
• Manage documentation and records of daily activities.
