Job summary

VitalCaring Group seeks a Volunteer Coordinator in Gulfport, MS to develop and manage the hospice volunteer program. You will recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, ensuring they align with patient and family needs and clinical teams.

You will maintain records, participate in interdisciplinary meetings, and contribute to program quality and community outreach. A college degree is required, with hospice experience preferred.

Qualifications

• College degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in health care setting; hospice/volunteer experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
• Understands hospice philosophy and patient-care focus.
• Ability to recruit, educate and manage volunteers across programs.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program.
• Recruits, educates, and selects volunteers from multiple sessions per year.
• Identify and establish volunteer needs with patients and care teams.
• Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely, professional manner.
• Maintain monthly volunteer statistics and personnel files.
• Attend interdisciplinary group meetings and participate in program development.
• Provide information about hospice volunteer services to community groups.
• Participate in budget discussions for program development.
• Contribute to quality assessment and performance improvement activities.
