Job summary

VitalCaring Group is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to lead and grow our hospice volunteer program. You will recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, coordinating with patients and families to meet care goals.

The role focuses on education, community outreach, and program development within our Mississippi-based operations, offering a structured, patient-centered work environment.

Qualifications

• Requires college degree; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience in health care setting; hospice or volunteer experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
• Understands hospice philosophy and patient-centered care.
• Ability to organize and develop volunteer personnel for patient and organizational needs.
• Ability to manage a group of volunteers who may be considered employees.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program.
• Recruit, educate, and select volunteers from at least three sessions per year.
• Assess and establish volunteer service needs with patient, family, and hospice team.
• Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Maintain monthly volunteer statistics and records.
• Maintain current volunteer personnel files.
• Attend interdisciplinary group meetings.
• Inform individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
• Participate in budget preparation for program development.
• Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement activities.
• Accept and perform other related duties.
