Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking a Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator to lead and coordinate our volunteer and bereavement programs in the service area. This full-time, day-shift role supports patients, families, and the hospice team by recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, and by delivering a comprehensive bereavement program.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in a related field and/or experience in hospice or bereavement services.
• Experience in recruiting, training, supervising and supporting volunteers.
• Knowledge of hospice philosophy, end-of-life care, grief and bereavement principles.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; able to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and improve Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Programs; align with organizational needs.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and retain a diverse volunteer workforce; ensure regulatory training completion.
• Provide supervision and coaching for volunteers; ensure support and appropriate matching to patient needs.
• Manage program compliance and documentation for HR requirements and regulatory standards.
• Direct bereavement program from admission through 13 months post-death with family support.
• Collaborate with IDG to integrate services into care plans and coordinate assignments.
• Monitor outcomes and drive quality improvements in program utilization and service quality.
• Promote hospice and bereavement services through outreach and community engagement.
