Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospice is seeking a Director of Social Work to lead a dedicated team delivering compassionate hospice psychosocial care. You will provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and administrative oversight across the service area, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered support for patients and families.

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary leaders, advance program development, and drive quality improvements while aligning with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• MSW from CSWE-accredited program is required.
• Current LCSW license in Virginia is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years healthcare social work experience, hospice/palliative care preferred.
• At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, clinical supervision, mentorship, and performance management for the social work and counseling team.
• Oversee psychosocial services, ensuring timely, patient-centered assessments and plans of care.
• Recruit, orient, develop, and evaluate social work staff with professional growth.
• Coordinate staffing, caseloads, coverage, and continuity across the service area.
• Ensure 24/7 on-call counselor coverage and supervise on-call staff.
• Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Group and clinical leaders on complex cases.
• Represent Social Work at leadership levels and participate in committees.
• Lead QAPI initiatives including chart audits and improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policies.
