Job summary

Residential Home Health and Residential Hospice in Mechanicsburg, PA, is seeking a Weekend Registered Nurse (RN) for hospice care in patients' homes. This PRN position supports weekend coverage, requires an active RN license in the state, and expects about 20% travel within the territory.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state you work.
• Two years of RN experience; hospice experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive ~20% of time.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a hospice setting with an interdisciplinary team.
• Respond to patient needs by performing urgent assessments, managing symptoms, and providing end-of-life support.
• Support and guide patients and families on weekends, including crisis situations.
• Coordinate care needs, maintain accurate EMR documentation, and communicate changes to the team.
• Work independently, but collaborate with colleagues as needed to ensure seamless care.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a hospice setting, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to comfort, dignity, and quality of life
• Respond to patient needs by performing urgent assessments, managing symptoms and pain, and providing compassionate end-of-life support in real time
• Support and guide patients and families during weekends, and crisis situations, ensuring they feel informed, reassured, and cared for throughout the hospice journey
• Apply strong clinical judgment and critical thinking to coordinate care needs, respond to changing patient conditions, and maintain accurate, timely, and compliant EMR documentation
• Work independently, but never alone
• Travel to patient homes within assigned territory

Weekend RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse, RN license in the state you work
• Two years of RN experience and the clinical expertise to deliver quality patient care, Hospice experience preferred
• Due to the field-based nature of this home hospice position, a valid driver’s license and the ability to spend approximately 20% of your workday driving to and from patient locations are required.
