Capital City Hospice in Columbus, OH, seeks an After-Hours On Call Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert clinical guidance during evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role emphasizes compassionate decision-making and support for patients, families, and caregivers in home-based hospice settings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Minimum two years of professional nursing experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Triage after-hours calls and assess patient needs to determine interventions.
• Coordinate nursing visits and delegate care as needed.
• Assess physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team for seamless care.
• Provide symptom management recommendations and update care plans.
• Perform clinical pronouncements of death and support families.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and care plans.

Capital City Hospice | Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas

schedule: 3 12-hour shifts each week including rotating weekends.

What You'll Do

As an After-Hours On Call RN, you'll serve as a vital resource for patients, families, and caregivers by providing clinical guidance and support during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Triage after-hours patient and family calls, assessing needs and determining appropriate interventions
• Coordinate nursing visits and delegate care to appropriate team members when needed
• Assess physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and families
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and community resources to ensure seamless care
• Provide symptom management recommendations and update care plans accordingly
• Perform clinical pronouncements of death and offer compassionate support to family members
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, care plans, and progress notes
• Ensure patients receive the highest level of comfort-focused care throughout their hospice journey

Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio
• Minimum of two years of professional nursing experience
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and nursing judgment skills
• Ability to support families during emotionally challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance
