Job summary

Capital City Hospice in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an After-Hours On Call Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert clinical guidance and care during evenings, weekends, and holidays. You'll triage after-hours calls, coordinate nursing visits, assess patient and family needs, and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure compassionate, comfort-focused care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.
• Minimum of two years of professional nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and nursing judgment skills.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Triage after-hours patient and family calls, assessing needs and determining appropriate interventions.
• Coordinate nursing visits and delegate care to appropriate team members when needed.
• Assess physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and community resources to ensure seamless care.
• Provide symptom management recommendations and update care plans accordingly.
• Perform clinical pronouncements of death and offer compassionate support to family members.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, care plans, and progress notes.
• Ensure patients receive the highest level of comfort-focused care throughout their hospice journey.

schedule: 3 12-hour shifts each week including rotating weekends.
