Job summary

Mountain Valley Hospice is seeking an experienced Hospice RN for after-hours, home-based on-call coverage in the Mount Airy, NC area.

The role involves responding to after-hours calls, assessing patient needs, and making in-home visits as needed, while collaborating with the hospice team to ensure continuity of care and patient comfort.

Qualifications

• Current RN license.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond to changing patient needs.
• Hospice, home health, or related nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to remain within the assigned service area and travel to patients' homes as needed.

Looking for a nursing opportunity that offers independence, flexibility, and meaningful work?

At Mountain Valley Hospice, our after-hours nurses provide compassionate care and reassurance to patients and families when they need it most. Unlike traditional night shift positions, our after-hours RNs are primarily on‑call from home, responding to patient needs and making visits when necessary.

You’ll have the independence to work from home between patient care needs while remaining available to provide hands‑on nursing care throughout your assigned service area.

Available Schedules

• Friday–Sunday: 4 PM–8 AM
