Job summary

Serenity Hospice Pennsylvania is seeking an On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) to provide after-hours nursing support throughout the Wyoming Valley, PA service area. The role features a predictable 7-days-on/7-days-off schedule, triaging calls, symptom management, and on-call visits to ensure safe, compassionate care for hospice patients and families.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team, coordinate care with physicians, and complete timely electronic documentation.

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience required.
• Hospice experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate approach to patient and family care.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Respond to after-hours calls from patients, families, and caregivers.
• Conduct on-call visits to address symptom management and urgent patient needs.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and implement appropriate interventions.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and the interdisciplinary hospice team.
• Provide education and support to patients and caregivers regarding hospice services, medications, and symptom management.
• Complete timely and accurate electronic clinical documentation.
• Participate in rotating on-call coverage according to the assigned schedule.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care that reflects the goals and wishes of each patient and family.
