Job summary

Gentiva seeks a Hospice Physician to lead compassionate, goal-directed care for hospice patients while ensuring medical standards. You will oversee regulatory compliance, guide quality improvement, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.

The role requires certification and licensure in good standing, with travel as needed to support program needs. This physician-not-employed-by Gentiva arrangement invoices for services rendered, aligning with flexible coverage

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification in Hospice/Palliative Medicine preferred.
• Current, unrestricted medical license in the practicing state.
• Active NPI and DEA registrations.
• Medicare/Medicaid enrollment experience a plus.
• Ability to travel 15-25% as program needs require.

Responsibilities

• Certify and recertify hospice eligibility to meet regulatory timelines.
• Oversee face-to-face visits and home consultations for complex cases.
• Provide 24/7/365 on-call physician coverage coordination.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation for regulatory reviews.
• Participate in IDG meetings to coordinate care and meds.
• Monitor medication use and appropriate prescribing.
• Collaborate with leadership on policy, QAPI, and compliance.
• Act as a community liaison to expand hospice partnerships.
• Support staff and community education programs.
