Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a registered nurse to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in our Duke Health system, including the inpatient hospice setting in Durham, NC.

The role emphasizes patient-focused care, adherence to physician orders, and proactive participation in performance improvement and education to support patient and family needs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited ADN, Nursing Diploma, or BSN program.
• All RNs without a BSN are encouraged to enroll within two years and complete the BSN within seven years of start date.
• Twelve months of clinical experience required; exceptional performers with 6 months may be considered at manager's discretion.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care per physician orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or unit as assigned.
• Monitor environment of care and initiate corrective actions for equipment and resources.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain competencies.
• Act as preceptor and support the development of staff and learners.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
