Summary

The Inpatient Hospice Nurse, RN provides skilled nursing care to patients requiring continuous inpatient nursing care. Rotates weekends and works weekend shifts as needed.

Qualification Requirements

• Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice nursing in the state of North Carolina
• Minimum of two-years’ experience as a professional nurse, preferably in an oncology/acute care setting

Essential Functions

• Abides by and supports 3HC's Compliance Program and Code of Ethics.
• Creates positive experiences for internal and external customers that meet expectations.
• Conducts patient admission by obtaining medical history, performing a physical assessment, and evaluating support systems and teaching needs.
• Provides comfort to patients/families to facilitate quality of life and death with dignity.
• Completes electronic documentation every shift.
• Teaches and counsels patients/families regarding nursing care, terminally ill needs, preparation for death, and discharge plans.
• Supervises the care given by the Certified Nursing Assistant to assigned patients.
• Maintains regular communication with supervisor.
• Stays abreast of overall patient care and improves nursing care skills.
• Demonstrates an interest in personal and professional growth.
• Demonstrates a willingness to be cost-effective in the use of Agency resources.
• Adheres to 3HC's Personnel Policy and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
