Director of Hospice In-patient Care Center (RN required)

The Ferris Care Center (FCC) is a 13 room facility. The team provides short-term care in a home-like setting where friends and family can be present during the most difficult times. Providing focus on intensive medical end-of-life care for patients who can no longer be at home but would rather not be hospitalized. Our approach to care includes comprehensive physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of the Ferris Care Center (FCC) will lead the FCC Care Team in providing positive, high-quality hospice and palliative care to patients receiving skilled nursing care at the care center. This role is responsible for effective staff supervision through onboarding, orientation, one-on-ones, group meetings, and formal or informal rounding’s on a regular basis. The Director of FCC will embrace sustainability through financial stewardship and is responsible for meeting FCC’s monthly contribution margins.

SUPERVISES: FCC Nursing Staff, Certified Nurse Assistants, FCC Team Assistants, and provides co-supervision of FCC Volunteers, FCC Social Workers, FCC Chaplains, and FCC assigned physicians and nurse practitioners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• RN with current Colorado licensure; graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Hospice Certification (CHPN) or obtains within the first year.
• 2 years management experience preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in home care, oncology experience preferred.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and unlimited access to reliable transportation maintained throughout employment.
• Adequate automobile insurance maintained throughout employment.

COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledgeable about disease processes and advanced symptom management nursing care.
• Knowledgeable of nursing protocols and procedures.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work in a variety of setting including but not limited to an office, residential home, nursing home, and assisted living environments.
• Ability to adhere to attendance expectations to support the supervision of staff.
• Use of telephone and computer technology, including EMR.
• Current CPR certification is maintained throughout employment.
• Superior verbal and written communication, writing and math skills.
• Public speaking.
• Time management.
