Job summary

Queen City Hospice is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide direct personal care to hospice patients in home settings, helping with ADLs and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, documenting vital signs, and reporting changes to the RN Case Manager while offering emotional support to families and patients. The role emphasizes a respectful, patient-centered approach within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 years of age.
• Active STNA/CNA certification.
• Listed on the state nurse aide registry in good standing.
• Current BLS.
• Passionate care to terminally ill patients.
• Strong communication and observational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to hospice patients in home settings.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, and toileting.
• Support patient comfort and safety, including proper use of medical equipment (oxygen, bed rails, etc.).
• Perform skin care and positioning to prevent breakdown and promote comfort.
• Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and light household tasks as assigned.
• Take and document vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure) as directed.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN Case Manager.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and families.
• Offer respite care for caregivers when needed.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with hospice standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Listed on the state nurse aide registry in good standing
• Current BLS

• Experience supporting patients with chronic or terminal conditions
