Job summary

Arc Hospice & Palliative Care is seeking an experienced Chaplain in Fort Lauderdale to provide spiritual support to patients, families, and the care team. You will conduct assessments, support care planning, offer counseling, and coordinate rituals or sacraments per patient and family wishes.

This role requires a Master’s in divinity or related field, CPE, ordination or endorsement, and ability to work with diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in divinity, theology, pastoral counseling, or related field.
• 1 unit of CPE required; 2 units or board certification preferred.
• Ordination/endorsement by a recognized faith group.
• Experience in hospice, hospital, or community health settings.
• Ability to serve diverse populations with respect.
• Knowledge of grief and bereavement processes; support for families.
• Understanding of Medicare hospice regulations related to spiritual care.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for patient visits.
• Excellent interpersonal, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the IDT.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and virtual tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct spiritual assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide ongoing spiritual and emotional support aligning with beliefs and preferences.
• Support diverse faiths and non-religious beliefs.
• Offer prayer, sacraments, and spiritual rites as appropriate.
• Participate in interdisciplinary group meetings and care planning.
• Document spiritual care services and updates in the EMR.
• Assist with advance care planning, legacy work, and life review.
• Coordinate with community clergy to ensure culturally relevant care.
• Assist with bereavement care and family support before and after death.
• Educate team members on cultural, spiritual, and ethical issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Stay current on hospice spiritual care best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
