Job summary

CompassionCare Hospice in Reno, NV is seeking a compassionate Chaplain to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and families at end-of-life. This role sits within an interdisciplinary team and offers a nonjudgmental presence that honors diverse beliefs.

You will conduct spiritual assessments, develop care plans, and coordinate memorial services while supporting staff and volunteers in a variety of settings. Reno-based, full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited theology or chaplaincy program (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree).
• Experience working with death and dying; hospice experience preferred.
• Comfort in an interfaith setting.
• Must be a licensed driver with insured automobile.
• Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs and values.
• Knowledge of hospice philosophy of care.
• Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary group.
• Ability to network with community clergy and congregations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and ensure timely spiritual assessments for patients and families.
• Participate in developing individualized care plans to address spiritual needs.
• Provide direct spiritual support to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Serve as a liaison to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
• Maintain accurate documentation of spiritual services and communications.
• Attend interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to care planning.
• Offer education and spiritual care guidance to the care team.
• Recruit and support community chaplains, spiritual counselors, and volunteers.
• Coordinate and lead memorial or funeral services as requested.
• Organize periodic memorials for staff, volunteers, and community partners.
• Assist in supervising spiritual care volunteers.
