Job summary

CompassionCare Hospice in Reno, NV is seeking a compassionate Chaplain to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families during end-of-life care. You will be an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, offering nonjudgmental presence and care that respects each patient’s beliefs and cultural background.

In this onsite role, you will conduct spiritual assessments, help develop care plans, and collaborate with clinicians to ensure comfort, dignity, and meaningful

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited theology or chaplaincy program (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree)
• Experience working with death and dying, hospice experience preferred
• Comfort in an interfaith setting
• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order
• Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs and values
• Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care
• Ability to work as member of interdisciplinary group
• Ability to network with community clergy and congregations

Responsibilities

• Conduct and ensure timely spiritual assessments for patients and families
• Participate in developing individualized care plans to address spiritual needs
• Provide direct spiritual support to patients, families, and caregivers
• Serve as a liaison to community chaplains and spiritual counselors
• Maintain accurate documentation of spiritual services and communications
• Attend interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to care planning
• Offer education and spiritual care guidance to the care team
• Recruit and support community chaplains, spiritual counselors, and volunteers
• Coordinate and lead memorial or funeral services as requested
• Organize periodic memorials for staff, volunteers, and community partners
• Assist in supervising spiritual care volunteers
