Trial Period: 180 Days

Work Hours: Typically, 8-hour workday, Monday thru Friday –

We are a seasonal company which requires hours outside of normal working hours. Peak seasons (July – October and December- April) require flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends. Off-peak seasons offer a more regular schedule.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Control (QC) Manager at Van Zyverden is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes related to the receiving, storage, packaging, and distribution of horticultural products. The QC Manager ensures that all products meet the company's high standards for quality, consistency, and safety, while complying with industry regulations. This position requires close collaboration with production teams, purchasing team, suppliers, and customers to continuously improve product quality and support the company’s commitment to excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quality Management System:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Control system to ensure all products meet Van Zyverden’s quality standards and industry regulations.
    • Oversee inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, ensuring compliance with specifications.
    • Establish and maintain QC policies and procedures, regularly updating them to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Lead initiatives for process improvement to enhance product quality and efficiency in production.
  • Analyze quality data and trends, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, purchasing, and logistics to drive quality improvements.
  • Manage and lead the Quality Control team, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff are knowledgeable about QC protocols, safety standards, and proper handling of horticultural products.
  • Supplier & Vendor Quality Assurance:
    • Work closely with purchasing to ensure the quality of raw materials and outsourced services meet Van Zyverden’s standards.
    • Conduct supplier audits and monitor their performance to maintain consistent quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with applicable horticultural, agricultural, and safety regulations (e.g., USDA, EPA, State Departments of Agriculture) at all stages of production and distribution.
    • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, reports, and records for internal and external audits.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in quality control, preferably in horticulture, agriculture, or a related industry.
