Qualified candidates will have 2 years of post high school horticulture training or 3–4 years related experience and a NYS Class II license. The position is full-time with a 40-hour work week and standard safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 2 years of post High School training with concentration in Horticulture or related field, or 3-4 years of practical related experience.
• Must possess a valid New York State Class II motor vehicle operator's license and be able to perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plants, transplants, removes, cultivates, aerates and waters grass, flower beds, trees and shrubs.
• Sprays, prunes, cuts and fertilizes plant life as directed.
• Assists in disease and insect identification and control programs.
• Maintains athletic fields and facilities, including marking and setup.
• Loads, operates and maintains tools, equipment and vehicles as needed.
• Performs cleanup of walkways, parking lots, roadways, fields and grounds.
• Keeps records and prepares daily work reports.
• Complies with safety regulations and departmental policies.
• Ensures work area cleanliness and proper tool storage.
